Where the pines whisper,
the day slows.

Our story

megh~aalaya slow on purpose

megh~aalaya began as a family summer house — a weathered timber home built into the slope of the hills, surrounded by pines older than the road that reaches it. For two decades we came here to disappear from the city: to read on the verandah, to gather mushrooms after the rain, to wake to the sound of wind moving through the canopy.

In 2018 we opened three of the rooms to guests who were looking for the same thing — not a hotel, not a resort, but a place that asks nothing of you. The vegetables still come from the kitchen garden. The fire is still lit by hand. The wifi still only works in the dining room, and only reluctantly

Come for the view. Stay because the morning fog makes it impossible to leave

The best

when you feel like it

Nothing here is mandatory. The days are yours to fill or to leave deliberately empty. The hills have a way of taking care of both
